First week back with the Forest Sevice

We are both so happy with the job change. It was such a good week of work overall. So refreshing to be outside and not in front of a computer. It is also SO great living up there too, in the middle of the woods. It is beautiful, simple, and peaceful. We have a lot of brand new people on the crew. They all seem nice. I think this is a very new experience for a lot of them.
We did our pack-test on Monday (3mile walk, 45lb pack, with in 45mins). Tuesday we did our chainsaw training in the classroom and then 2 field days running chain saw on Weds & Thurs. Weds morning it was snowing and FREEZING, good times despite that factor. Thursday the sun came out and rain jackets came off.
So one of the funniest things that happened was with one of the new guys. Trey was helping the new guys learn to run the saw. This one fella is overweight, never ran a saw, and I don't think he walks much more than he needs too (so in lousy shape). He fired up the saw and cut a small branch. That pretty much wore him out. Trey told me the next thing he did was sit down and continue cutting from a seated position. LOL. These guys crack me up.
I will take some photos this next week of where we live. It is a fantastic 493 sq feet and endless forest. Please stay in touch! Much love.
