Fire Season, so far

news clip of trey. he is the one running the chain saw:

It has been good. We got done with our first 14 day assignment on Friday. We were in Warm Springs and near Mt. Adams in Washington. It was good. I am training to be a squad boss and have got to run a squad for a few days so far and have been lookout, repeater, pump operator, and weather girl. It is nice to be learning and progressing in this job. I have been enjoying being outdoors, the exercise, and of course the money.
Our crew is starting to get the hang of things. We are starting to come together nicely. We still have some wrinkles to get ironed out. Trey is doing great on the saw. He loves it.
The biggest challenge for me is the lack of sleep, being dirty all the time, having dried out hands with tearing cuticles, and eating crappy food.
I hope everyone is having a great summer. Drop me a note sometime.
Peace and love,
The Travers

Our 1 Year Anniversary

We can't believe 1 year has already flown by. We started the day waking up in our tent in Warm Springs (North of Madras). Our crew was getting ready to go work another shift in the smoking hot and dry desert (I was not looking forward to it at all). Then we got the word that there was a fire up on Mt Adams and that we would be going there instead. WAAAWHOOO!

Our first crew boss from 2001, Grayback days.
